Who Can Apply for a New Ration Card?

Can't Apply Online? Apply Offline
If your state's portal isn't working or you don't have internet access, you can apply offline at:
- Your nearest Tehsil / Block / Sub-Division office (Food Supply Department)
- Common Service Centres (CSC) — they charge a nominal fee of ₹30–50 to assist with the form
- e-Seva centres (in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana)

⚠️ Beware of Agents: You don't need to pay any agent to apply for a ration card. The process is free on official portals. Agents charging ₹500–₹2000 for "guaranteed approval" are likely fraudsters.

Can I apply for a ration card if I'm renting a house?
Yes. A rent agreement along with your Aadhaar card is accepted as proof of residence for ration card application. The landlord's consent may be required in some states.
Can a single person apply for a ration card?
Yes, a single-member household can apply. The person will be the head of household and the only member listed on the card.
